Alum wins Baseball Hall of Fame design competition

Baseball hall of fame design award

Cassie McFarland (Class of '08) won the U.S. Mint Baseball Coin Design Competition.

McFarland’s baseball glove design was one of 178 entries submitted between April 11 and May 11.  Her design, along with her initials, will appear on the obverses of the coins in National Baseball Hall of Fame Commemorative Coin Program, scheduled for release in early 2014.

Professor Costello Accepted to National Coleman Fellows Program

Enrica Lovaglio Costello has been accepted into the Coleman Foundation Faculty Entrepreneurship Fellows program, which brings entrepreneurial education to 16 university and college campuses throughout the U.S.

Bruno Ribeiro

Assistant Professor of Graphic Design.  Professor Ribeiro holds a Master of Fine Arts from The Ohio State University with a focus on Interaction Design.  His thesis was entitled Reshaping Visual Communication Design Curriculum to Support Collaboration with Computer Science and Engineering.  Prior to attending The Ohio State University, Professor Ribeiro was creative director for Stijl, a design firm based in his home country of Brazil.

Diana Puntar

Assistant Professor of Sculpture.  Professor Puntar holds a Master of Fine Arts from The School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.  Before coming to Cal Poly she taught at the Pratt Institute in New York.  Professor Puntar's sculpture has been exhibition at PS1 Museum of Modern Art in New York, as well as Boston, Chicago, Portland, Charlotte, and New Haven.  Her current work investigates utopian endeavors.

Design students win awards, including Ad Designer of the Year!

Brad Matsushita (class of ‘12) was named Ad Designer of the Year at the at the College Newspaper Business and Advertising Manager’s (CNBAM) convention in Miami, Fla.  Brad also won: Best Online Display Advertisement, and Best Sales Promotion Materials

Emily Hsiao (class of '12) was selected to recieve the 3rd Place award for: Best Black & White Advertisement

Laura Howell (class of '11) was selected to recieve the 3rd Place award for: Best Display Advertisement for Associated Collegiate Press Pacemaker.

Mustang Daily, Cal Poly’s student-run newspaper, recently won its fourth consecutive College Newspaper of the Year award.

Art & Design Students Win Cal Poly Arts Awards

Cathy Kossack (class of '12) won the Cal Poly Service to the Arts award.
