Congratulations Graphic Design Class of 2023!

The Senior Showcase Website

The Graphic Design Senior Showcase website features the work of 24 graduating seniors, who faced the unimaginable challenge of having their college experience interrupted by a global pandemic. At long last, we saw a return to normalcy in the 2022–23 academic year: we could gather in large groups, mask-free. It's been amazing seeing the halls of Dexter come to life again. This group of seniors have been through a lot, but they haven't lost their optimism or joie de vivre. It's been so much fun working with them and watching their progress over the last few years.

Congratulations, class of 2023! The Department of Art and Design and the Graphic Design faculty are so proud of you. We can’t wait to see the wonderful things that you accomplish in the future.

The graphic design program is housed within the Department of Art and Design, where we offer a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree (BFA). Students in the graphic design concentration study a variety of subjects relevant to the field, including: typography, identity design, user experience design, user interface design, animation, illustration, book arts, and design history. Our curriculum emphasizes a human-centered approach; students research, analyze, prototype, and design creative concepts and solutions for business, social, and cultural contexts. Our program encourages students to think ethically and inclusively, and to engage in hands-on creative exploration and problem solving.

All graphic design students are required to create a capstone portfolio tailored to their interests and career goals. Each spring, seniors have their portfolios reviewed by design professionals to help them prepare for successful entry into the creative field. This year 26 Art and Design alumni and professional designers participated in the Senior Portfolio Review—18 in person and 7 via Zoom. Our Cal Poly graphic design network is wide-reaching and incredibly supportive; thank you, alumni!
