University Art Gallery exhibits Victoria Fu Photo/Video Installation Jan. 17 – Feb. 8, 2019

Cal Poly’s University Art Gallery will present “Télévoix,” an art installation featuring photos, videos and sculptures by artist Victoria Fu to run Jan. 17 through Feb. 8.The exhibit will open with a talk by Fu at 5 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17 in Dexter (Bldg. 34), Rm. 159. A reception will follow from 6-7:30 p.m. in the gallery, located on the ground floor of the Dexter Building.

Fu’s video art and photography examines and plays with artistic conventions and the dispersal of technical images in the contemporary era. Using appropriated stock footage and original imagery, Fu dissects strategies of visual communication by collaging scraps of digital media into formal elements. Fu decodes and aestheticizes the stream of mundane visual data that swirls around citizens in the developed world.
