Photo/Video Minor, Ellie Zeller's work featured in F-Stop Magazine

An assignment in Lana Z Caplan's Editorial Photography class this winter was to make a photo essay and submit it to an online publication for consideration.  Ellie Zeller made a series of images of  women in the domestic space. One of her images was chosen for the F-Stop Magazine group exhibition "Inhabit".

Ellie zeller - merit of alleviation

Aan excerpt from her artist statement about this photo essay:

"Capturing the beauty of women within the domestic sphere may seem akin to waving a white flag beneath the grip of misogyny. However, that is the nature of reclamation– we must commission the demeaned to remove the taint from the dignity that is rightfully theirs in order to overcome the control of oppression. Therefore, I have produced a series of photographs that strive to reclaim the virtue of muliebrity within a home– not to suggest that women have an obligation to these spaces in any way, but rather to promote the existence of womanhood within a household free from the dominion of societal constructs. Ultimately, I attempt to convey the strength, power, and grace that exudes from a feminine existence that is free to flourish within her own four walls in any way that she so pleases."
