TALK & RECEPTION THURSDAY, JAN. 17, 2019, 5-7PM
UNIVERSITY ART GALLERY
FREE + OPEN TO PUBLIC
The video art and photography of Victoria Fu examines and plays with artistic conventions and the dispersal of technical images in the contemporary era. Using appropriated stock footage and original imagery, Fu dissects strategies of visual communication by collaging scraps of digital media into formal elements. Fu often manipulates film footage through blurring, cropping, and unusual or repetitive editing to create abstract sequences. Fu decodes and aestheticizes the stream of mundane visual data that swirls around citizens in the developed world.
